What are dermal fillers?
Dermal fillers are made of a synthetic copy of the hyaluronic acid that your body naturally produces. In a gel form, dermal fillers are injected with various techniques to refill facial areas that are sunken or “deflated.” Because dermal fillers do their work below the skin’s surface, they can be used in conjunction with many of our surface-level treatments and products.
What do dermal fillers treat?
Dermal fillers address signs of aging skin such as “jowls,” marionette lines, and the folds that run from the corners of your nose to the corners of your mouth (also known as nasolabial folds). Dermal fillers can restore volume to sagging cheeks, sunken temples, and thinning lips.
What does treatment feel like?
The filler will be injected with various techniques depending on your preferences and goals. You will feel the “poke” of the needle-like cannula which delivers the filler below the skin. You may feel a tightening or filling sensation. You will notice your results immediately.
What can I expect after the procedure?
At the injection sites, you may experience mild redness, tenderness, itching, or bruising. In some patients, swelling or firmness below the skin may occur. A cold compress can help alleviate any discomfort. Most side effects will subside after a few days. Within 2 weeks, your body will have acclimated and you’ll be pleased with your result.
How long before I see results?
You will see results immediately after your treatment, and you’ll look well rested. It may take a couple days or weeks for all swelling and redness to stop, but your results will last for up to a year depending on the product used.
